“What makes the people vulnerable are their hopes for a miracle.
They are hoping a pastor will come and rescue them.”
- Rev. Dale T. Irvin, president of New York Theological Seminary

Prayer of Saint Francis

"Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon:
where there is doubt, faith ;
where there is despair, hope
where there is darkness, light
where there is sadness, joy

O divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen."

it's all relative...

"In our heads, speed is not always the most important thing.
Sometimes what really matters is timing."

yeap! it's all relative...

we are arrogant... yes we are...

http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/notrocketscience/2010/04/02/pigeons-outperform-humans-at-the-monty-hall-dilemma/

in some tasks pigeons are better than humans. obviously they can fly better than us. :(
but sometimes even in probability problem... take a look at the article linked above...

the reason why we are worse than pigeons in Monty Hall problem might be
we are too arrogant to switch from our pre-calculated understanding... which might be
not perfect but which we stick to...

Paul Erdos...

Other idiosyncratic elements of Erdős' vocabulary include:
  • children were referred to as "epsilons";
  • women were "bosses";
  • men were "slaves";
  • people who stopped doing math had "died";
  • people who physically died had "left";
  • alcoholic drinks were "poison";
  • music was "noise";
  • people who had married were "captured";
  • people who had divorced were "liberated";
  • to give a mathematical lecture was "to preach" and
  • to give an oral exam to a student was "to torture" him/her.

faith is...

"Faith is not knowing what the future holds,
but knowing who holds the future."
